I’m Francesca (Fran) Hill — an award‑winning Cardiff wedding photographer who specialises in natural, relaxed and documentary wedding photography. My work sits at the meeting point of contemporary reportage and creative fine art: I tell the story of your day as it unfolds, while also taking the time to craft portraits that feel timeless and true to you. I’m happiest when I can disappear into the background and capture honest laughter, private glances, the small details you’ve spent months planning and those irreproducible moments that only happen once. My images aim to feel effortless and cinematic — not staged — so you can look back and feel like you’re right back in that moment. My approach is relaxed and informal. I don’t ask you to “smile for the camera”; instead I work with personality and atmosphere. If someone’s camera shy, I’ll let them be, or I’ll tell a terrible joke to get a real laugh (it usually works). If your wedding is festival‑style, barn, city hall or a church celebration, I adapt to the vibe and find the light and angles that suit your day’s character. I believe in collaboration. Before the wedding I’m happy to meet for a chat over coffee and cake, and many couples choose a pre‑wedding/engagement shoot so we can get to know each other and relax in front of the lens. That session makes portrait time on the wedding day feel easy and natural. Although my base is Cardiff and South Wales, I cover weddings across the UK and am available for destination weddings when reasonable expenses are covered. From intimate city ceremonies to larger country celebrations, I bring the same documentary eye and creative ambition to every commission.
