I’m Guy Milnes — a Caerphilly‑based wedding photographer who specialises in documentary, reportage-style wedding photography. My work is about being in the right spot at the right time: quietly watching, anticipating and recording the fleeting moments that make a wedding unique. I prefer to blend in rather than direct, so couples and guests relax and the day unfolds naturally. The result is a collection of images — in vibrant colour and striking black and white — that feel honest, emotional and timeless. What sets my approach apart is an emphasis on atmosphere and storytelling. Over more than a decade photographing weddings, I’ve learned to read a room, to sense when to move closer and when to disappear. I look for those small gestures — a shared laugh, a whispered word, a tear — that often say more than posed portraits. I edit with an eye for contrast and tone, choosing colour or monochrome for each image so the mood of the moment is preserved. I aim to make the whole experience straightforward and enjoyable. On the day I work unobtrusively from your guests’ perspective, while still creating a handful of relaxed portraits that feel fun rather than staged. I’m also comfortable with short‑day and last‑minute weddings — often these can be the most relaxed and candid occasions. Although weddings are my principal passion and expertise, I also take engagement and portrait sessions when they help couples feel ready for the camera. These shoots are a gentle way to build rapport and to make your wedding portraits feel effortless. I’m warm and welcoming to all couples and have particular experience with same‑sex weddings and civil partnerships in the Cardiff and London areas. Based in Caerphilly, I photograph throughout South Wales, Bristol and London, bringing local knowledge of venues and the practical eye needed to capture each day’s story.
