I’m Karo — the photographer behind Regenweibchen — and I specialise in relaxed, documentary wedding photography in Edinburgh and across Scotland. My practice is rooted in the wild places I love: coastlines, forests and mountain glens. That connection to nature shapes my work and gives it a distinct, vintage-film inspired look that feels both romantic and timeless. Why choose Regenweibchen for your wedding? My approach is gentle and conversational: I’ll get to know you, help settle any nerves, and guide you only when it will create a more natural image. Couples often tell me they barely notice I’m there — that’s when the most intimate and authentic photographs happen. I love photographing elopements, intimate ceremonies and adventurous weddings where the landscape becomes part of your story. My style blends documentary honesty with a soft, nostalgic edit. I’m drawn to warm, earthy tones and soft light — the kind of light that appears after rain or at the edge of the day. Movement matters: wind in a dress, a shared laugh, a quiet embrace — these are the elements I look for to create images that feel alive and emotional. Before your wedding I’ll meet you to chat ideas, locations and the moments you care about most. On the day I focus on blending into the background for candid coverage while also creating calm, enjoyable moments for couple portraits. For adventurous elopements I sometimes photograph alongside my husband Sam, who can assist as second photographer or capture short video highlights when requested. I’m proud to be LGBTQIA+ friendly — inclusion matters deeply to me — and I enjoy photographing couples of every kind. Outside of weddings I also offer relaxed portraits and family sessions, plus occasional nature prints and video add-ons, but weddings remain my true speciality. My work is driven by a love of raw landscapes, human emotion and the craft of turning fleeting moments into art you’ll want to live with for years to come.
