Hello — I’m Carolyn, the photographer behind Small Adventures Photography. Wedding photography is one of my core passions and I specialise in capturing the movement, emotion and tiny interactions that make each wedding unique. My first wedding was at Gretna Green in 2011, and since officially launching Small Adventures Photography in 2014 I’ve developed a relaxed, movement-led style that suits couples who want honest, joyful wedding photos rather than staged formality. My approach is rooted in storytelling. I love to watch for natural moments — a laugh between the couple, a child’s reaction, a quiet breath before the ceremony — and to use light and motion to turn them into images that feel alive. That obsession with capturing movement began years earlier when I tried (and failed, many times) to photograph my first high-speed border collie. Learning to master shutter speed taught me to anticipate action and emotion, a skill that translates beautifully to wedding days. Working with me is easy and low-pressure. I aim to be calm and unobtrusive on the day: part observer, part friendly presence. Before your wedding I like to chat about your plans, favourite moments you want captured and the general vibe you’re after. On the day I balance documentary coverage with a few gentle, posed portraits when needed — always keeping the focus on genuine connection. Though weddings are a primary focus, I also photograph families and pets and these experiences inform my wedding photography — I’m used to working with children, animals and lively groups, and I bring that patience and adaptability to every wedding.
