About the Photographer

Established 1855

I’m Tom Reeves and at Edward Reeves Photography we specialise in wedding photography from our studio on Lewes High Street. Our practice is rooted in more than 160 years of family experience — four generations of Reeves working from the same address — and that continuity shapes the way I approach every wedding: with respect for tradition, unquestioned technical skill and a calm, unobtrusive manner. Why choose me for your wedding? I bring the craft and discipline of a long-established studio to the realities of modern wedding days. I’ve photographed weddings since I was 18 and over the decades I’ve refined a style that values genuine moments above staged spectacle. I aim to be invisible when the day needs to flow naturally, and gently present when a quiet portrait or group shot will make a memory last. That balance — documentary-led, yet attentive to those classic keepsakes — is at the heart of my work. My approach is practical and personal. From our first conversation I’ll get to know you and how you want the day recorded. A walk-through at the venue often helps plan the flow and means less fuss on the day itself; a little preparation on my part saves time for you. On the wedding day I work discreetly and sensitively so that your guests can enjoy themselves — I’ve always believed that relaxed, happy people make the best photographs. I also photograph engagement and bridal sessions, which are a lovely way to build confidence in front of the camera before the big day and to create images that sit alongside your wedding story. Being based in Lewes gives me a deep local knowledge of scenic spots, venues and light at different times of year, which I use to the advantage of each couple. As a studio with a substantial archive and a long local presence, I take pride in offering a service that blends old-fashioned care with up-to-date photographic practice. If you’re planning a wedding in Sussex and want a photographer who will treat your day with experience, patience and a steady hand, please get in touch — I’d be pleased to meet and talk through your plans.
