I’m Rafe — a Hitchin-based wedding photographer who loves photographing people being themselves. My work centres on natural, documentary-style wedding photography: minimal posing, an eye for emotion and moments that feel genuine rather than staged. Couples choose me because I focus on storytelling — the small glances, unplanned laughter and the chaotic joy that make each day unique. Why choose me? I combine a relaxed, chatty approach with strong technical experience. I’m present and confident when needed (confetti, group shots, sparklers) and discreet and unobtrusive when the moment calls for it (prep, ceremony, speeches). That emotional intelligence — knowing when to step in and when to melt into the background — is something I pride myself on above all else. I shoot with high-end Canon kit that lets me get beautiful images in the trickiest light, and I work with a hand-picked squad of second photographers who mirror my style so you won’t miss a thing. How I work with couples: we’ll start by getting to know one another — typically over a chat in Hitchin (I have a sturdy kettle and the world’s noisiest Nespresso). Many couples add a pre-wedding engagement shoot to the plan; it’s a brilliant way to relax in front of the camera and create images to use for invites or décor. On the day I’ll blend reportage with a few gently directed couple shots so your gallery feels cohesive, natural and joyful. I also offer a short Highlight Film as an optional extra — a 5–6 minute edit that complements the still images and gives you a moving way to relive the best moments. Films are crafted with the same unobtrusive, story-led approach as my photography and are designed for sharing with friends and family. My work has been recognised by industry awards and I’m lucky to be a recommended supplier at many Hertfordshire venues.
