Hi — I’m Emily, a Formby-based wedding photographer who photographs days in a quietly documentary style. My work is shaped by two long-standing passions: a love of landscape and composition, and a lifetime spent inside orchestras. As a violinist with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra I’ve learned to read light, timing and the emotional flow of a performance — skills I bring to every wedding I shoot. I believe the best wedding photos come from attention to detail and discretion. I look to capture the unscripted, fleeting moments that tell the true story of your day: the nervous laugh before the aisle, the light catching a veil, a private conversation at the reception. My aim is to create a tasteful, honest visual record that feels like you — not staged, but thoughtfully composed. My approach is calm and unobtrusive. Before your wedding I’ll take time to understand what matters to you: the moments you don’t want to miss, the family dynamics, the flow of the day and any special venues or performers. On the day I work quietly, blending in while staying alert for the decisive moments. My experience photographing concerts and events across world-class venues has given me an instinct for capturing emotion under pressure and in difficult lighting — an advantage when the moment matters most. Although documentary at heart, I’m mindful of composition and light — influences from my landscape work — so I’ll also create a few considered portraits that feel natural and relaxed.
