I’m Emily, the face behind Silverbird Photography — a Durham-based, North East wedding photographer who loves photographing couples who are totally themselves. With a background as an award-winning press photographer and more than a decade of experience, my approach is storytelling-led: I capture real moments as they happen, creating a visual record that feels honest, joyful and completely you. My style is modern, fun and relaxed. I shoot 90% candid and 10% directed — so you’ll get the raw happy tears, the cheeky confetti moments and a few calm, cheese-free portraits that actually feel natural. I don’t take over your day. Instead I stay unobtrusive, moving through your wedding like one of your guests, ready to catch the tiny, messy moments that make your day special. We’ll chat about your plans, I’ll send helpful emails in the run-up to the day and on the wedding I’ll steer gently when needed but mostly let things unfold naturally. I’m happy to travel across the North East and surrounding areas — Durham, Newcastle, Northumberland, Yorkshire, Cumbria and the Lake District — and I love photographing both big party weddings and intimate registry ceremonies.
