I’m Matt Nicholls — a Dewsbury‑based wedding photographer who lives and breathes wedding days. Having been voted Yorkshire Wedding Photographer of the Year multiple times (2016, 2019, 2022 & 2024), I focus entirely on weddings so every decision I make is about giving couples confident, beautiful photographs that last a lifetime. My approach is straightforward: fun, relaxed and honest. I shoot predominantly in a contemporary reportage style, looking for the real moments — the laughs, the tears, the unexpected reactions — and I keep posing light and natural so couples can enjoy their day. Couples often tell me they felt like I was a guest with a camera rather than someone in charge; that atmosphere is central to the way I work and why so many of my couples enjoy the portrait time and the flow of the day. How I work with you: we’ll chat before the wedding — I normally ring a few days beforehand to run through timings and any venue details — then I arrive early on the day to settle in and capture preparations. Bride and groom portraits are designed to be slick and simple: I aim for a strong set of outstanding images without taking you away from your guests for longer than necessary. I blend in when needed and step in close for key emotional moments, so your gallery tells the whole story. Because I concentrate on weddings, I can offer extras that complement my photography: aerial/drone shots where the venue allows, a budget‑friendly cinematic highlights video produced by my trusted team member, and beautifully crafted albums to turn your images into a family heirloom. A second photographer is also available to expand coverage and capture both sides of the day. Based in Dewsbury, I travel across Yorkshire, the UK and overseas for weddings and work regularly with recommended venues across the region.
