I’m Charles Thorne, a Christchurch, Dorset wedding photographer with nearly 30 years’ experience and a simple philosophy: it’s your day — not mine. I specialise in wedding photography, combining natural portraits with a documentary approach to create a storybook of your day. I aim to direct the viewer’s eye to the moments and details that matter, capturing atmosphere, emotion and those little scenes you might otherwise miss. My style sits between relaxed, natural portraiture and unobtrusive reportage. I work to put couples at ease so faces and relationships feel genuine rather than posed. Early in our process we’ll meet and have a conversation so I can understand you and what you value. A pre-wedding shoot is part of that process — it’s practical, fun and invaluable for getting comfortable in front of the camera. When the wedding day arrives I’m discreet and adaptable: I blend with your guests, guide when needed, and step back to record the candid moments that make each celebration unique. I take pride in being approachable and professional. Over the years I’ve developed an artistic eye — my photo art practice and competition accolades with the Guild of Photographers inform the way I see light, movement and mood.
