I’m Howard Barnett — an award-winning wedding photographer based in Chapel Allerton, working across Leeds, Harrogate, York and throughout Yorkshire. With a BA (Hons) in Photography and BIPP qualification, I bring technical skill, creative vision and years of experience to every wedding. I’ve been fortunate to learn from some of Britain’s finest wedding and fashion photographers and to receive recognition from names such as Sony, Nikon and Fujifilm. My approach is straightforward: I promise to capture your day from the heart. I favour a natural, unobtrusive reportage style that lets the day unfold while I quietly record the moments that matter — the laughter, the small gestures and the atmosphere that make each wedding unique. When formal family groups are needed I’ll organise them efficiently and with a relaxed manner so that time with your guests isn’t lost to long sessions of posing. I know many of Yorkshire’s top venues intimately — from Weetwood Hall and Rudding Park to Ripley Castle — and this local knowledge helps me spot the right light and the most flattering backdrops so your photographs feel effortless and true to the place. I also photograph a wide variety of ceremonies and celebrations and place great importance on making every couple feel at ease, whether the day is grand or wonderfully intimate. Equipment matters. I use flagship professional cameras, top-quality lenses and dedicated lighting where necessary to ensure consistency and the highest image quality in all conditions. Beyond digital files, I value physical prints and hand-made albums. A printed portrait or a well-crafted wedding album is something that will be enjoyed for generations, and I take care with printing and presentation when couples choose those options. A pre-wedding chat — typically a month before the day — helps me tailor the photography to your plans and personality. Engagement shoots are available for couples who want a relaxed session to get comfortable in front of the camera before the wedding.
