About the Photographer

I’m Mark Nortcliffe — a Cambridge wedding photographer who loves telling people’s stories through images. Wedding photography is my primary focus: I bring a calm, warm presence to your day and a style that’s relaxed, fun and unobtrusive. My approach is a hybrid of documentary/photojournalism and classic formal portraits, which means I’ll be there to catch the candid moments you’ll want to relive, while also creating timeless couple and family images. My work is driven by a belief that every wedding is a unique story. I liken a wedding to a jigsaw puzzle: there are so many pieces and it’s my responsibility to make sure none of them are missing. From bridal preparation through to first dance and beyond, I watch and record the celebrations as they unfold — the laughter, the tears, the small details — and then step in to craft those composed portraits that become heirloom images. I’m based in Girton, just outside Cambridge, and I offer no-obligation consultation meetings at my studio or at a location closer to you. Getting to know you is central to my process: when couples feel comfortable, the most natural and memorable photographs follow. I invest in continual training, professional equipment and industry-leading editing tools so you receive a polished gallery that reflects the essence of your day. While weddings are my speciality, I also work on portrait assignments when I’m not photographing celebrations. My years working in retail customer service (John Lewis) taught me to place client care at the heart of everything I do — I go the extra mile to make the whole experience smooth and enjoyable, from planning to delivery. I’m especially experienced in photographing same-sex and LGBTQ+ weddings and regularly volunteer at Pride events; inclusivity and sensitivity are part of how I work. To preserve the quality of service I provide, I limit the number of weddings I take each year — this ensures each couple receives the attention and care their day deserves. If my images and words resonate with you, I’d love to meet and talk through your plans. A relaxed chat is the best way to see if we’re the right fit and to start shaping how your wedding story will be told.
