I’m James — a wedding photographer based in Bishops Stortford with a simple aim: to document your wedding day honestly, creatively and without fuss. My approach is rooted in a documentary style that prioritises real moments over staged poses. I work to blend into the day so I can capture the smiles, glances and little surprises you might otherwise miss. Why choose me? My background in fine art, illustration and design (and more than two decades working with imagery) informs the way I see and frame a wedding. That visual experience, combined with a relaxed, friendly manner, helps put couples at ease — even if you aren’t used to being in front of a camera. I pride myself on good character and a down-to-earth approach; clients tell me it makes for natural, authentic images that reflect the spirit of the day. How I work with couples is straightforward and personal. I like to start with a conversation — in person or virtually — to understand what you want from your wedding photography and to build a connection. On the day I’m unobtrusive, documenting the flow of events while stepping in for portraits and group shots when it feels right. After the wedding I personally edit and colour-correct the images, then deliver them in a secure, shareable online gallery so you and your guests can easily view and download your wedding photos. I photograph weddings across Herts, Essex and the UK, and I enjoy the variety each venue and couple bring — from intimate registry office ceremonies to lively festival-style celebrations. If you’d like a little extra time together before the big day, I also offer an optional engagement session on location to help you feel more comfortable in front of the lens and to capture a relaxed portrait set.
