Hello — I’m Val, the face behind Flying Canadian Photography. I specialise in wedding photography from my base in Birkenhead, working across the Wirral, Cumbria and beyond. Photography has been part of my life since childhood in Canada, and I bring that lifetime of curiosity and care to every wedding I photograph. Over the years I’ve met lovely couples and families, and I take pride in creating professional wedding photos that feel natural and full of life, not staged. Whether you want coverage of the ceremony, candid reportage of guests, or a few calm portraits of the two of you, I focus on capturing the atmosphere and emotion that matter most. How I work: I aim to make the planning simple and the shoot day easy. We’ll talk beforehand so I understand what’s important to you — the key people, the special moments, the locations you love. On the day I blend into the background, picking up on spontaneous moments and photographing them thoughtfully. I also enjoy engagement photography as a way for couples to get comfortable in front of the camera before the wedding day, building a relaxed rapport that benefits the whole experience. My work is guided by a love of storytelling and a genuine enjoyment of people. Outside of weddings I volunteer photographing animals for the Wirral Animal Sanctuary and occasionally take portrait commissions — both of which reflect my patient and caring style. But at heart my primary focus is weddings: creating images you’ll savour for years to come.
