I’m Richard Neal — a Barnstaple-based wedding photographer and videographer who loves turning real moments into lasting memories. I started behind the camera at 16 and trained in Film Production, specialising in cinematography. That background informs everything I do: from the way I frame a photograph to how I craft a wedding film with narrative, light and emotion at its heart. Why choose me? I aim to capture the atmosphere of your day rather than stage it — the little nervous laughs, stolen glances and unscripted joy that make each wedding unique. With a filmmaker’s eye I focus on composition, timing and sound, which means your photos and films sit beautifully together as a cohesive story of your wedding day. Working with couples is my favourite part of the job. I take time to get to know you so I can anticipate moments rather than interrupt them. Whether we’re shooting on the beach at sunset, in a church in North Devon or at a cosy venue in Cornwall, I keep things relaxed and friendly — helping even camera-shy couples feel comfortable. My process is collaborative: I listen to what matters most to you and adapt my coverage to reflect your personality and priorities. As someone who has worked professionally at sea and won a cinematography scholarship during university, I bring both technical experience and creative sensitivity to every booking. I’m equally at home capturing cinematic wedding films as I am creating striking, natural wedding photos and engagement images. If you’d like stills from your film, I can extract and edit frames to give you additional professional photographs from your footage. Based in Barnstaple and covering North Devon, Devon, Cornwall and Somerset, I’m available to travel for weddings across the region. I also offer portrait and event photography as a secondary service, but my primary focus remains delivering beautiful, timeless wedding photography and videography.
