Wedding Album Design

I’m Martin Hambleton and I specialise in wedding album design from my base in Altrincham. For me an album is more than a book of pictures – it’s a family heirloom that brings a wedding day back to life. My approach is deliberately classic, minimal and elegant: I design to show the photographs at their best, not to draw attention away from them. I’ve been photographing weddings since 2003 and have worked with both Fine Art/digital books and traditional matted albums. I design for Folio, Jorgensen and Queensberry as standard, and have also produced designs for Graphistudio, Loxley and Sim2000. Each album is bespoke: the number of pages, the cover material and the layout are chosen to suit your photographs and the story you want the album to tell. Whether you prefer expansive full-spread images on a Fine Art book or the tactile, crafted feel of a matted album, I’ll design a flow of spreads so each page stands alone while encouraging you to keep turning. My process is straightforward and collaborative. You send a copy (not the originals) of your high‑resolution files, I check them and create an initial design, then I send proofs for your comments and revisions. Together we finalise cover options and finishing touches—leather, cloth, debossing or a plain minimalist cover—then your bespoke album goes into production with a professional manufacturer. Typical lead times for delivery are discussed at sign-off so you know when to expect your finished keepsake. I also offer a service tailored to professional photographers who don’t have the time or inclination to design albums themselves. I can either deliver finished spreads for you to supply to your chosen lab, or I can manage the entire process, dealing directly with your clients on your behalf. Prints are available as a secondary option, produced through professional labs to complement your album.
